What a great book!  It was very well written, smooth to read out loud.  The concept of the story was nothing I had seen before and loved that it explored the nature of plants and animals.  It touched on what it's like to be the "different" family in the neighborhood where you are not always accepted.  This story was narrated by the tree it self which was fun to experince.  I loved the creative name for each of the animal families.  Alot of thought was put into the storyline and Katherine Applegate did an incredible job.

This is the first book I've read written by BA Paris and I loved it.  I'm excited to read more of her novels.  The book was well written and  the storyline with its twists and turns made it a real page turner.  I love reading psychological thrillers and this one had me guessing until the end.

Awesome book by Jennifer Mathieu!  So glad it's a YA novel because it's important for young women to read it.  Even if the events in the book aren't your experience, they still happen and we must come together and fight.  The main character Vivian secretly starts a zine called moxie which about feminism and fighting back against sexism.  It spread rapidly and a group of women refers to themselves as Moxie...and together they stood up for what is right. Great story, I'm hoping it inspires many young women, and men.

My goodness what a life changing book.  Sandra Uwiringiyimana shares her story about coming to America as a refugee.  She states that she left one war in Africa, she was originally from Congo, and entered into another sort of war here in the United States. Her storytelling is both raw and loving which encouraged me as a reader to trust her, and want more.  She opened my eyes to what life can be like and I thank her for doing so.

Loved this booked!  Gave it 4 stars only because it got too descriptive which made me confused.  Other than that it's a great read for older kids.  There are real life events that take place in the book that some might find too mature for kids.  I, however, feel it's beneficial for the readers to experience these mishaps right along with the main character, Joyce.  Some families have gone through missing soldiers and the death of a pet, or moving because a parent passed away.  Teaching empathy to kids through reading is excellent.

Loved this book! Gillian French does a great job setting up her characters.  I adore Darcy, the main character, and her grit as she goes through life as a poor kid in a small town. The love that she has for her family is inspiring and the issue with her cousin Nell kept me on my toes until the end.  Definitely a book I couldn't put down.

LOVED this book by Chris Colfer!  4 stars because rated teen is too young due to adult events that take place, should be considered young adult in my opinion. Other than that...this storyline was unique and fun. A real coming of age story about 4 teens on a road trip across the US before heading to college.  Each has a big secret they are hiding from their friends but one special guest has the ability to crack them all wide open.  Will definitely be reading more from this author.
