This is the first book I have read by author Lisa Gardner, and I plan to add her on my "to read" list. The characters in this book were set up nicely, and it was easy to follow. The author kept me intrigued from the beginning. I enjoyed that I had not figured out the ending, before I got to it!
This was my first time reading a book by the author, Delia Owens. The main reason I chose to read it was because of the positive reviews. I must admit that the beginning of the book disappointed me. The development of some of the main characters was very slow, to the point that I felt a few chapters could have been omitted. It really did not capture my attention until halfway through. I did enjoy the setting of the book, and most of the details surrounding the main character's personality. Although the beginning was a bit too slow for me, I gave it 4 stars, as the last quarter of the book drew me in to finish it.
I have been in search of new authors and genres to read, so I picked up The Gods of Guilt by author Michael Connelly. This story flowed fairly well making it an easy read, with minimal detail of bloody scenes. I enjoyed the character development which was easy to follow. Unfortunately for me, it was easy to figure out the "whodunnit" well before the end of the book. There were one or two surprises that kept my interest. He is a "new" (to me) author that I will read more of.
Another new author for me, and different genre than I usually read. The book was an easy read, and kept my interest throughout each chapter. The characters were introduced well, and consistent. I was actually somewhat surprised by the ending, which does not happen often. I would definitely recommend this book to others...although I am going to have to find the first book since I did not realize it was part of a series.
I do not usually enjoy reading biographies, yet was looking forward to this one. There are a few dull, maybe too much detail, moments in the middle of the book. Nothing that lost my attention though. Politics aside, it was a pleasure to come across a person who can write as well as they speak. It is quite a gift to be able to move people, in both written and verbal form.
This book grasped my attention from the beginning. I enjoy reading books based in this timeframe as it is. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed their different perspectives throughout the book. It was also interesting to read about Nazi soldiers taking over a hotel, versus the numerous books that speak about them taking over homes. Definitely a page turner.
