Wicked Fallout is book 2 in the Pretty Wicked series. I did not read book one but I will say book two was intense.
Ryann was only 15 years old when she was arrested for murdering 6 people. She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. After serving 12 years and for good behavior she is up for parole if a psychiatrist believes she is not going to be a threat to society.
The entire story is of the doctor interviewing Ryann and all the ways it affects the doctor as well as what Ryann is really thinking.
You will not want to put this book down. Many twists and turns that will make you anticipate what will happen next. A must read!
Paige Dearth can tell a story like no other. Because of her life experiences she puts all her feelings into her characters and as the reader you can feel those feelings.
One Among Us is a story about Maggie, an eleven year old girl who is abducted from the local mall and sold into a human sex trafficking ring. Along her horrific journey she meets other children from 4 to 18 years of age being forced to do unspeakable things children should NEVER have to endure.
If you are faint of heart this book is not for you. Paige tells a story of what is happening in our society everyday and most of us have no idea it's going on. I live in a somewhat small town and I see this on our news nightly. It's happening and we need to open our eyes and realize as parents that we need to parent our children and do our best to keep them safe.
I have so much respect for Ms. Dearth for tackling the subjects she has in her books Believe Like a Child, When Smiles Fade and One Among Us. I will be reading her next books Born Mobster and Mean Little People. Kudos to you Paige Dearth for being brave and writing about the reality we live in.
I have a ton of books in my"read" file and none have shocked me as A Mother's Confession did.
This is a story about Olivia and David. They met in College, although they grew up in the same small town but ran in different circles. After college they get married and life for Olivia takes a drastic turn.
David becomes verbally and psychically abusive and alienates her from her family and friends. David's parents see the signs of abuse and chose to ignore it saying "it's their business". For years Olivia puts up with the abuse because as usual David cries and apologizes afterward and says if she would just be good he wouldn't get so angry.
This story is told in alternating chapters between Olivia and David's mom Ivy. It will have you frustrated on so many levels but will keep you reading. When I got to the end of this book I was bawling like a baby and could not believe I didn't pick up on the way it ended.
I will remember this book for a very long time.
K.A. Tucker does it again! I have not read a Tucker story I have not loved yet.
Keep Her Safe is a story about corruption within the police department and the lengths they will go to to protect their own.
It's about feeling you can trust your family only to learn that you really can't. And, it's about finding love when you least expect it.
Here and Gone is a story about an abused mother who decides to take her two kids and run. While on the run she is pulled over and her kids are taken away from her and she is told she will see them after they get the reason for being pulled over taken care of. After she is put in a cell she asks where her children are (she has been asking over and over since being pulled over) and the sheriff says..................What children?
This is a story about what a mother will do to protect her children. What a mother will endure to get her abducted children back in her arms.
Here and Gone was a good read and kept my interest throughout the book. It was easy to follow and although it was also easy to predict it was still a good story.
I have read many reviews about How I Lost You and how this book/author was being bashed. I read "This book was dreadful, the dialog was full of holes" and the list went on. I don't know what book these people were reading because I thought this was a good story. I think people sometimes forget that what they are reading is a fiction book not a real life tale.
There are some twists I did not see coming and I was not 100% sure "who done it" until the last few pages.. I will definitely be reading more by Jenny Blackhurst and will be stocking her books in my store with a great review so my customers can read a good book by a good author.
WOW! Little Broken Things is a great suspense story that will reel you in and not let you go. There is so much happening in this book. Things you will never believe would happen. There is love, hate, fear, patience and at times rage.
The story goes back and forth from one character in one chapter to another character to the next chapter.
I read other reviews on this book before I read it and decided I needed to read it because the other reviews were all about how great this book is. And I have to say they were completely correct.
It's one of those stories where you will love a character then think nope......she/he is a jerk.......only to feel differently again by the end. This is a MUST read!
